about

This was the second trio piece we did in Petaluma. A nice contrast to the dark space we explored in Angel, this piece is one of my favorites from tour because it just oozes pure joy, delight, freedom. I didn't sing any words on this one.

It was named Shasta because I first got the mastered track from Steve in July, when Daniel and I were returning to California from our Northwest duo tour. We were staying overnight with Robin in Mt. Shasta, and I was listening to the track at 3am in an empty upstairs room, lying in a sleeping bag on the floor looking out the balcony window at the Perseid meteor shower in a giant beautiful deep blue-black, new-moon starry sky bordered by the shadowy silhouette of mountains. This track was the perfect accompaniment to the moment, and I was tweeting at Steve about it, so we ended up calling it Shasta.

I love the way Twitter helps us stay up all night with whichever friends are in some time zone where normal people are awake.
