about

I was invited by artist and urban ecologist Eden Gallanter to write a song as part of the Kickstarter fundraising campaign for her hand-painted tarot deck. I based my song on a reading she did for me at the moment I was preparing to let go of my permanent home and embark on a journey of touring and living nomadically.

The alchemy of Eden's cards is potent, as was her reading of them, and over the next several months as I lived my adventure on the road, her visions and reflections slowly brewed and unfolded in and all around me. By the end of my national Room for Living house concert tour with Daniel Berkman, much of what she read had come to pass, and the sights, sounds, conversations, dreams, emotions I'd experienced along the way merged with her words and images to become this song.

When I was in the process of writing and recording it, my friend Ted Quinn said, "eden's beautiful tarot deck? sounds like a song right there...." That's when I realized her name was the essence of the song, and had been all along. Sometimes life writes music, sometimes music writes life.
